The Medical Exam: Short, Convenient And Free

Every Term life insurance application requires a paramedical exam. A paramedical firm will call you to schedule an appointment for your exam at your home or your office – whichever is more convenient for you. The exam typically takes 15 to 20 minutes.

The exam technician will measure your height, weight and blood pressure, and take urine and blood samples.

The results of your exam can have a great bearing on your final price. Here are some tips for getting the best results from your exam:

  • Schedule the exam for early in the day, and have it at a time when you feel relaxed.
  • For a few days or so before the exam, avoid fatty foods, rich desserts and alcohol. Eat as healthily as you can.
  • For 8 to 12 hours before the exam, it's important that you do not eat or drink anything except water. That's why it's good to schedule a morning exam. Eating or drinking may throw off your cholesterol readings.
  • Take any medications on your regular schedule.
  • If your blood pressure tends to be high, ask the exam technician to take that last.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours before the exam.

The results of your exam are kept strictly confidential, and you will have full access to them.
